Q. I was diagnosed on Monday of this week and feel really devastated.  My lowest sugar check was today before my noon meal and it was 156.  This moning 2 hours after breakfast it was 202.

I need help with what foods I really need to eat.  I am glad to have found your web site.  It was very informative and I really need some help.

A. There are several things you can do to care for diabetes:

  1. Ask your doctor to refer you to a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes educator to help you get started
  2. Attend a diabetes class (usually offered at the local hospital)
  3. Make regular doctor's visits
  4. Monitor blood sugar
  5. Ask your doctor about an exercise program
  6. Talk with your doctor and pharmacist about medications (if you are taking any)
  7. Ask your doctor if GlucoMenu® is right for you (click the following link and print it out to share with your doctor):   Share GlucoMenu w/ Doctor (printable page)
